The two victims, aged 15 and 17, were walking along the 1200 block of Reading Avenue in Douglass Township when a car pulled up and shot them both, Daily Voice has reported.
Responding officers found one victim with a gunshot wound to the gut and another with injuries to the knee and shoulder, per the release. The two were rushed to Reading Hospital and Trauma Center where police say they are "expected to be okay."
Now, authorities say the victims had just left a party where they "had been involved in a physical altercation," and that the attack was "in response to the earlier altercation."
On Monday, June 12, a 14-year-old Perkiomenville boy was interviewed by police and admitted to carrying out the shooting, the department claims. He said he got the gun from a "juvenile acquaintance," they added.
The unnamed teen is charged with two counts of attempted homicide and a number of related counts, according to police.
The investigation remains active and anyone with information is asked to call the Berks County Detective’s Office at 610-478-7171 or the Douglass Township Police Department at 610-367-9474.
